The Activehome module plugs into the serial port of any PC running Windows 3.1/95/98/ME/2000 (and Windows XP with the downloadable driver from this
page). The socket on the front of the unit is an unswitched pass-through power outlet for the power cord of the PC. CD-ROM drive required.

The Mini Controller tells the Modules what to do. Command signals are sent over your
existing house wiring to the Module or Modules of your choice. The Modules respond to the
command signals. The Lamp Module turns on and off, dims and brightens any
incandescent lamp up to 300 watts. The Appliance Module turns on and off appliances
such as a TV (not "instant on" TVs), window fan or stereo. It can also be used for a lamp,
but cannot dim it. The Wall Switch Module turns on and off, dims and brightens an
incandescent light up to 500 watts, which is normally operated by a wall switch.

The Maxi Controller controls up to 16 individual X-10 addresses and can send out "All
Lights ON" or "All Units OFF" signals. "Group" feature allows simultaneous control of
multiple addresses.

receivers (more than enough for most X10 "Tim Allens"). By changing the House Code
wheel on the front of the unit, you can easily control all of the 256 X10 addresses. Plus, you
can use it to send signals to intelligent 2-way controllers to activate preprogrammed
command (macros). With the X10 Maxi Controller you'll have 16 device keys and 6 keys for
ON/OFF, DIM/BRIGHT and ALL ON/ALL OFF right at your fingertips. To control a device,
simply press the key for the device you want to control. Then touch the ON/OFF or
DIM/BRIGHT command key. That's all there is to it. There's even an LED that lets you know
when X10 commands are being sent.

Control your lights and appliances all around your house without leaving your sofa! Just plug the included
X10 Wireless Remote System base into any nearby outlet, and you'll have total wireless control of any
device connected to an X10 module or switch. The remote control operates as many as 16 devices (or
groups of devices) and includes dimming and brightening buttons for use with dimmable lights. The plug-
in base receives the commands and instantly sends them along the home's power lines. The system
uses radio frequency signals instead of infrared, so you won't have to be in direct line of sight for proper
operation. As long as the remote is within 100 feet of the plug-in base, it will work like a charm! The X10
Wireless Remote Control System requires 4 AAA batteries (sold separately).
